The Oxegen ’09 music festival took place over 3 days from July 10th to 12th in Punchestown Racecourse, Naas, Co. Kildare.  Heineken Music retained MobaNode to enable Bluetooth content deployment within the Heineken Green Space pavilion - The Heineken Green Space is a large outdoor pavilion, overlooking the 2nd stage (O2 stage) where people could gather and experience Oxegen in accommodating surroundings away form the main crowds with a degree of comfort.

Content Details:

For Oxegen 2009 it was decided that the best way to provide content to festival goers was to build a single, all inclusive, Java (J2ME) Mobile application. This application would contain many of the discrete elements that were previously sent out by MobaNode as individual files at last year's Oxegen ’08. In this way, festival goers would not have to repeatedly accept content from different campaigns, and search for the received content on their phones, all the content would be contained in a single, interactive, user navigable application.

The sections within the application were

Bands - This section listed, by day, all the main stages and all the acts appearing on the stages and their times. In particular, all acts appearing in the Greenspheres tent also had full Band details and notes. Additionally, this section also contained a “Who’s on Greenspheres now?” section which informed the user which act was on the Greenspheres stage now, and then next.

Map – This section contained an interactive map of the Oxegen ’09 site. Users could navigate around the map to get their bearings and could also click on both Greenspheres (to see which bands were playing now) and Green Space to get further information.

Info – This section highlighted useful information for festival goers such as information on Heineken Greenspace, Heineken GreenSpheres, Send to a Friend (the application download link sent as an SMS to a friend), Festival Hours, Campsite Details, Directions to Oxegen and Safety.

Flame – This virtual lighter was revised from the version used in ’08 and was used again to create a homage to the “lighter in the air” moments at concerts and given a mobile twist.

Twitter – In this section, festival goers could download the latest tweets from the HeinekenMusic twitter feed. It’s an ideal way to keep in touch with all the latest news from Heineken Music

Mobile Torch -  The mobile torch from ’08 was given a new lease of life and incorporated into the application. The mobile torch could turn the entire phone screen white – handy to find your way to your tent in the dark, or alternatively display a sequence of colours to create a mobile “disco” effect once back in your tent.
