You work on them for week/months, you watch them grow and when it's time you release them to let others play with them. Then it's Judgement Day....yes, it's that time of the year again and the annual "Appys" are one and 3 MobaNode app are shortlisted - St. Patrick's Festival, Absolut Fringe and the IRB Laws of Rugby. Here's hoping for some silverware (or at the very least, a rockin good night out!)

Love it when Apps start to take shape

The best part about build apps (for me anyway) is the designing of the user interface and journey. This is where it all starts and I've talked at many events about this - it's not XCode or Eclipse, it's pen on paper stuff and thinking through the process.

Only then, can you get to grips with what the User (note, I didn't say Client) needs. We've been busy here in MobaNode comming up with some exciting designs for new apps for some really nice new projects. We're really getting stuck in, which has meant that blogging has been a little light here of late....we hope to address that soon enough...

The big App for the small festival

Today we resleased a new App - nothing new there you say, sure isn't that what ye do....but this time there's one small difference. Most Apps MobaNode builds are bespoke custom work and thus take a good bit of time, energy, resources and therefore costs. However, not all our clients have the budgets to build bespoke Apps, so at MobaNode we're developing a system/platform/framework/thingy (can't decide what to call it!) to provide the same high quality apps, at a fraction of the time and cost. The first App out the gate using this "thingy" is our App for the Helium Festival 2011. A small festival in Ballymahon ,Co. Longford with just 1200 attendees shouldn't be derprived of a really cool App so that the festival goer could keep up with the schedule, and they weren't...as MobaNode was happy to oblidge...

We were glad to help out the team from Helium with this App, as the event itself was for charity and to raise money for FASI - the Friedreichs Ataxia Society of Ireland. So if you are lucky enough to be heading to the Helium Festival....go get the App on the Appstore now...

Yes, it's that time of the year again and MobaNode is delighted to be working with the St. Patricks Festival team once again to produce the St. Patrick's festival apps. This year, the Apps will be available for iPhone and Android and as well as containing all the usual features of the list of events, maps etc this year we have fully integrated Twitter & Facebook and for all the Irish Diaspora around the world, they can now watch the Parade on the 17th Live through the App (Courtesy of RTE)

...English isn't our Apps only language! We're delighted to broaden our reach of our successful IRB Laws of Rugby App by having the App now available in both French and Spanish.

In true Apple style, there still is only one App and you can get it here - and depending on which language you have you iPhone running in, the App will show up in the correct language accordingly. We've had some good fun in the office testing the App in the different languages and would recommend you change you iPhone to another another language if you want to add a certain "je ne sais quoi" ;-)

...2010 certainly was the year of the Apps! It was even chosen as "Word of the Year" by the American Dialect Society and for MobaNode, year 4 in business is already shaping up to be busy having put down a good year building apps for clients such as the IRB (International Rugby Board), eMobile, Absolut Fringe, St. Patricks Festival, Nokia Live @ Oxegen and our own apps "Slainte" and "Focal Me"

Looking forward to 2011, were hoping to work on some equally interesting Apps and projects and fingers crossed, more cases of vintage 2010 from Chateau MobaNode will be needed for clients!!
